What a journey it’s been! Alhamdulillah, I have completed a study of the Tafsir of the Qur’an which I started during the lockdown. During the course, I read the Qur'an, browsed through multiple exegeses and listened to 100+ hours of the Islamic philosopher and scholar Dr Israr Ahmed from Pakistan (d. 2010). My objective was to turn to the Book of Allah on a daily basis to read, recite, understand, reflect and implement upon it.

And I've learned a lot from this experience, but what I've learned the most and wish to share with you is that this Book of 604 Pages is truly our companion in life! In fact, interestingly the root letters of the word "Qur'an" in the Arabic Language are 'Qāf' 'Rā' and 'Nūn', these root letters are also shared in the word "Qareen" which linguistically refers to a companion who is always and constantly with you. Demonstrating how the Words of Allah are meant to be our closest companion. Therefore, I'll be starting the reading of the Qur'an along with its Tafsir all over again and once completed I will start it all over again and then all over again for the rest of my life In'sha'Allah.

And I honestly can not recommend it highly enough.

The Islamic Philosopher and Scholar Dr Israr Ahmed sacrificed his successful career as a Medical Doctor to pursue Islamic Studies and subsequently dedicated himself to teach Islam for over four decades until his death in April 2010 (aged 77). He became a household name during the early ’80s with his TV programme (Al Huda), authored several books, led his own organisation, held in high esteem and sought after for his thoughts on the political and economic system of Islam, and won many awards.
He was world-renowned for his Tafsir of the Qur'an in Urdu and English. With over 1 Million subscribers on his official YouTube Channel, his works are still highly sought out.

Disclaimer - I did not agree with him on every matter but highly respect him and regard him as one of the greatest scholars from Pakistan in our times. Interestingly, after my recent tour in Lahore, I discovered that he was a distant relative of mine. May Allah have mercy on him, Ameen.
