Masjid Al-Aqsa: Virtues, Reality, Prophecy & Our Responsibility
Masjid Al-Aqsa is not just a building of stone—it is a divine landmark woven into the fabric of Islamic history, identity, and ‘aqīdah. It is the first Qiblah of the Muslims, the second House of Allah to be established on earth, and the third most sacred Masjid in Islam. It is the only Masjid mentioned in the Qur’an alongside Masjid Al-Haram, and the blessed station from which the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ascended to the heavens during Al-Isrā Wal-Miʿrāj. Within its lands, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led over 124,000 Prophets in prayer—making every hand span of Al-Aqsa a place where prophets prostrated and angels descended. It is a sanctuary whose surroundings are blessed, where prayers hold multiplied rewards, where miracles occur by the permission of Allah, and where duʿās are readily accepted.
“Exalted is He who took His Slave by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed…”
— Qur’an 17:1
O Allah, protect Masjid Al-Aqsa and all those defending it in accordance with the Qur’an and Sunnah. Ameen.
The Reality on the Ground Today
Despite talk of a “ceasefire,” the oppression continues. Once again, occupation forces storm the compound of Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa—even moments after Jumuʿah—launching tear gas, firing rubber bullets, and intimidating innocent worshippers. For the people of Al-Aqsa, fear and chaos are not occasional—they are weekly.
Yet Allah reminds us:
“Indeed the people have gathered against you, so fear them.”
But it only increased them in faith, and they said:
“Sufficient for us is Allah, and He is the best Disposer of Affairs.”
— Qur’an 3:173
These trials are not setbacks—they are spiritual awakenings, reminders that every hardship faced by believers should deepen our faith, reliance, and certainty that the help of Allah is near.
A Prophecy Being Fulfilled Before Our Eyes
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ foretold:
“There will always remain a group from my Ummah upon the truth, overcoming their enemies. Those who oppose them will not harm them… They shall remain upon this until the Day of Judgment.”
When asked where they would be, he replied,
“In and around Bayt al-Maqdis.”
— Musnad Ahmad
Today, the steadfast people of Jerusalem—its scholars, mothers, children, guardians, and worshippers—embody this prophecy. Their resilience is a living testimony to the truth of our faith.
